Our Year 9 and Sixth Form students visited Williams Racing HQ in Oxford for an exciting STEM careers workshop.
During the morning, one group toured the Williams museum, exploring the history and development of Formula 1 cars driven by legends including Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Ayrton Senna and Carlos Sainz Jr..
The second group took part in Formula 1 simulator training, testing their driving skills on the Monte Carlo circuit in rainy conditions.
In the afternoon, students became part of a mechanical engineering team, designing and testing the nose of a Formula 1 vehicle to meet safety standards and reduce impact pressure during a crash. Working within a budget, students collaborated to design, test and improve their products before presenting them to the group.
The visit was an inspiring experience, giving students valuable insight into STEM careers and the world of motorsport engineering.
