Year 9 students meet Human Rights Lawyer Clive Stafford-Smith
Published: Thu 2 July 2026A group of Year 9 students recently welcomed human rights lawyer, Clive Stafford-Smith to the academy after impressing him at a lecture hosted by Gresham College.
The students had attended the lecture as part of their after-school Citizenship Masterclasses with SOAS University. Impressed by their interest and thoughtful questions, Clive offered to visit the school to speak to them in person.
During the session, he shared stories from his career, including cases involving people on death row and victims of torture. Students gained a fascinating insight into the legal profession and human rights, with some now considering a future career in law.
We look forward to working with Clive again in the new academic year on a mock trial project.
